Welcome to the questionnaire.

This presentation will guide you through the process of recording your video.

The following three slides will present you with a number of sample interview questions that you can use. First decide what question or questions that you want to answer and click the "Play This" button beside the first of these.

Once the question has been read by the system, click or press the record button on your camera or webcam software. Pause the recording when you have completed your answer.

Once you have completed the presenation, your video can be uploaded to the site.

 

OK, before we begin, let's make sure that you have everything ready. You will need the following:

  • Make you have a camcorder or a webcam ready.
  • Situate yourself in a comfortable position.
  • Compose yourself in a video preview screen of your webcam or the screen of your camcorder.
  • Ensure that that there is enough lightning for the image to be satifactory.
  • Make a small test recording to ensure that your speech can be understood.

 

First, state your name and today’s date.

Because it’s interesting to others:

1 Describe what you did today. Where did you go? Why? Who did you see?
2 Tell the story of your name. Do you know how your parents chose your name? Is there historical or family heritage to it? Did you have a nickname? What is the story about how you got your nickname?
3 Who is or was the most important person in your life? Describe why. How did they influence you?
4 Describe where you live – your home, your town. How long have you lived here? How did you come to live here?
5 How has your life been different than you imagined it would be?
6 Explain your profession or career path. Was it what you thought it would be? What lessons would you share?

Tell about your favorite things: movies/actors, books/authors, historical figures and events. What time of year is your favorite? Which holiday do you enjoy the most and why.

Hopes and dreams: Describe how your dreams have changed with time and history. Share your hopes for the future generations.
9 What about you surprises people? Share how you know this.
10 What invention has impacted your life the most? How?


Defining moments:

11 Tell about a moment you are most proud of. Is there a time you almost died that you can share?
12 Do you have episodes or tales of moments when you learned a life lesson that you can share?
13 What is the secret to a lasting relationship? Friendship? Being a parent? How do you know when you are in love
14 What is the bravest thing you have ever done? The scariest?

Recall Your Past

15 How would you describe yourself as a youngster? What did you look like when you were young?
16 What is your earliest memory? Describe the first object that you recall. What is the first place you remember.
17 Tell about your family life when growing up. Describe your siblings and other important family members.

Describe your childhood home and the neighborhood you grew up in.
19 What were you like as a teenager? Tell about your friends and the things you did together. Where did you go to school? What subjects or teachers had the most impact on you?

 


Reflections

20 When did you feel or know that you were “grown up”?
21 Is there a moment or event in history that altered the world as you know it? How?
22 Share what makes you: Laugh? Smile? Cry? Stop and ponder? Angry?
23 What do you value the most in this life? Tell about why it is so important to you.
24 Do you have a moment of greatest challenge, fear, wonderment, success that you can tell about?
25 Is there something you have never told anyone that you would like to share now?

Now you will need to save your video (if you used a webcam) or transfer it to your PC. Do it according your camera instructions.

You can then proceed to the upload screen here to upload the video, add tags and select permissions.

Once your video has been uploaded, it will be entered into queue for validation reasons. The video should be live on the site within 24 hours.
